Springboard Cottage Communities

Springboard Cottage Communities (in development) are permanent, affordable rental neighborhoods designed to serve a mix of income levels, including those transitioning from homelessness. These communities offer not just housing, but a chance to thrive—combining affordability with access to resources that help residents build stronger, more independent futures.

The Springboard Cottage Communities development model addresses the shortage of affordable rental units for Extremely Low Income (ELI) households by providing permanent, 400 square-foot cabins with kitchens and bathrooms. This initiative is designed to meet the needs identified in the Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) Housing Needs Study, which highlights a significant gap in affordable housing for ELI populations. The model emphasizes sustainability and community engagement while offering integrated supportive services, such as health care and job training, to foster stability and promote health equity for diverse groups, including the elderly, disabled, and families with children.
